Arjun Vagales: “Exit Fragments” releases on Axis records
Just when you start to believe that he has done it all. The Techno King does something that just leaves you in awe….
Receiving regular plays by Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Hawtin, and Dubfire, to representing India on stages around the world, Arjun Vagale is a well-celebrated name in Techno.
On 23rd September, he dropped this bomb on Instagram:
“So very proud to announce — My first solo album “Exit Fragments” will soon be released on one of the greatest Techno labels of all time, Jeff Mills’ Axis Records.”
This announcement left the Indian electronic music community dumbstruck in disbelief.
While his last release “Time Cop” on Quartz Rec was bouncing heads and getting some serious plays in Europe, this Indian Techno Legend was busy recording his first solo album in his home studio in Goa.
ODD Boss Arjun Vagale, in a post on social media on 8th October (the big release day of the Album):
”You can’t talk about Techno and not mention Jeff Mills & Axis Records right at the top of that conversation! For me – he’s been an inspiration and a visionary, who brings real meaning to the word ‘artist’.
It’s an immense honour for me to release an album on a label that has defined the sound of the movement we love so much. My deepest respect to Jeff for his trust, and allowing me to express myself. ”
Post the announcement Instagram has been flooded with support for the artist who is known to keep resetting the bar for electronic music artists in India.
Why is it a big deal…..
Axis Records is considered the big daddy of Techno labels. The brainchild of legendary DJ Producer, techno’s greatest, the one and only… the original “The Wizard”, Jeff Mills. Axis Records was first established in New York in 1991 and moved shop to Chicago just a few years later.
Arjun is admirably referred to as “The Pioneer of Indian Techno” in many international publications. Representing India on the global platform, he continues to be the single most sought-after name in Indian Electronic music. With groundbreaking releases in imprints such as Drumcode, Planet Rhythm, Tronic, Second State, and his co-owned Indo-Spanish label with Ramiro Lopez -ODD Recordings. Therefore it is only apt that he has outdone himself once again by releasing his first Album on this iconic Label.
