There’s no doubt about it: Pioneer’s “flagship” headphones HDJ-2000’s have proved their mettle over the years, and I’m consistently satisfied with their comfort, sound quality, and versatility of use. Should you buy them? Well, that may come down to a question of price.
What are HDJ-2000’s?
Professional grade, high-quality headphones with 50 mm driver units and high-flux magnets which create an outstanding resolution, from bass to treble.
Who’s it for?
The HDJ-2000 offers excellent quality with clear separation for any environment – whether performing at a nightclub or engineering in a studio. They are equally well suited to DJs and producers.
Style
Pioneer’s design sensibility is consistently minimal and elegant, and the HDJ-2000 follows the same aesthetic. They are available in silver, black chrome and white.
Usability
The HDJ-2000s are comfortable and compact. Equipped with the new I-Hinge auto return feature, the ear cups give full isolation and can swivel 90 degrees, making them ideal for DJs who prefer single-shoulder monitoring. The heat-sensitive, low-rebound urethane-foam padding with a protein leather surface cushions the ears and head, preventing ear fatigue. They’re also easy to carry – they use a removable Mini-XLR cable and can fold into themselves.
The Upside
Apart from good sound quality and comfort, the mono/stereo switch is a great add-on as it enables the user to select a preference for monitoring signals.
Downside
Not fully convinced that this set would be entirely worth it for everyone. An approximate price of 18,000 – 20,000 INR would make them a more realistic choice for professional DJs. Pioneer HDJ-2000 not recommended for newbies.
Final Call
After using the HDJ-2000 for the last 2 years one is slightly biased about this, as they are still going strong. They are a great set of headphones.
